Preventing teen pregnancy and sexual violence
Guatemala hosted the Regional Meeting of South-South Cooperation between Andean and Central American countries: Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Sexual Violence, organized with the purpose of recognizing the experience and successful results of the Andean Plan for the Prevention of Teen Pregnancy (PLANEA) and the Regional reduce impunity, access to justice and prevention of sexual violence. This meeting, sponsored by the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Population Fund of the United Nations, UNFPA, and the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation, AECID, allowed the retrieval of lessons applicable to the Latin American realities that affect the lives of thousands of children, adolescents and young women in our countries. »more (más en español)
Haiti smiles with sexual and reproductive health clinics
“Smile Clinics” are being inaugurated in Haiti to provide all the reproductive health services, with qualified personnel to ensure basic emergency obstetrical and neonatal care.
These centers, located in Petite Place Cazeau (Northeast of Port-au-Prince), Marigot (Southeast of Haiti) and Jean Denis (Northwest of Haiti), are an addition to the Béthanie clinic (South of Port-au-Prince), which is already providing maternal health services since April and has an average of 100 deliveries per month.
