The Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office (LACRO), propose a South – South Cooperation Platform (SSCP) for Multilateral and Triangular Cooperation. A digital tool that will consolidate the proposals of our mandate as facilitators and accompanist in the transfer of know-how, knowledge, experience sharing and peer learning, to boost local and national development programs, in fulfillment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG5, A&B) and accelerate progresses on "ICPD + 20” and beyond 2014 Agenda.
The PCSS serve to create a source of “Solutions” and development oriented activities at the multilateral level. To be used by government and local partner, interested in accessing a virtual surface, to provide and/or offer successful experiences to be shared through South-South cooperation.
The Multilateral SSCP expedites and facilitates the preparation and implementation of horizontal cooperation initiatives. It will positively contribute to promote initiatives at the multilateral level in South-South Cooperation, by establishing mechanisms to foster the "Know How", the mutual learning, and the promotion of alternative solutions, built on experiences from UNFPA Country Offices and their local partners.
The South-South Cooperation Platform is designed to facilitate peer interaction at local, national and/or regional level; with a dual profile, as a provider of experiences/solutions and as receiver of experiences/solutions. It aims to become an operational mechanism that encourages and promotes South-South Cooperation on issues related to UNFPA´s mandate, and to contribute significantly to local and national development of the countries of the region.
By integrating the digital tools, the SSCP allows us to accompany the governments in their efforts to SSC, and the collective creation of new knowledge.
