LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN - COVID-19 has generated a huge health, social and economic impact, which has claimed a very high number of human lives. The impact of the pandemic is expected to increase existing inequalities and generate the deepest recession in recent history, affecting mostly adolescents and young people and causing their development possibilities to be truncated, negatively affecting the enjoyment of their human rights in equality of conditions.
Second COVID-19 Youth Survey
The United Nations Group for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean and the members of the Interagency Task Force on Youth for Latin America and the Caribbean are committed to the 2030 Agenda objectives, for Sustainable Development, and the Strategy for the United Nations for Youth. Therefore, the compliance and respect of human rights - including economic, social and cultural rights, as well as civil and political rights - is critical to the success of public health responses and recovery from the pandemic.
In this context, the United Nations calls adolescents and young people between the ages of 15 and 29 from Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in this second Survey, which seeks to better understand how they are facing the COVID-pandemic, as well as their current and future concerns. The Survey will be open until October 31, 2021.

Youth participation is key
In May 2020, the United Nations System launched the first survey on youth and COVID-19 with the aim of knowing how young people were experiencing the pandemic, as well as their concerns and recommendations.
The survey had the participation of more than 7,700 adolescents and young people between 15 and 29 years old, and included more than 30 questions structured in 5 sections: Employment, Education and Connectivity; Health, Home (care), Time Use and consumption; Community; Citizen participation; and Governance and Foresight.
